Quick and delicious Upma recipe (perfect recipe in 15 minutes)
Upma is a famous dish of South India and also in Maharashtra. Upma is a healthy, tasty and delicious breakfast which is prepared in 15 minutes. Many people like to eat upma in their diet also. Learn to make upma with less oil and plenty of vegetables.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rava / suji
- 1 tbsp oil/ ghee
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Moog dal ( soke 5 minute before make)
- 1 Medium size onion
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 small carret ( finely chopped)
- 1 small tomato ( finely chooped)
- 2-4 green chillies
- 3 cup water
- Salt as taste
- Fresh coriander leaves
Let's start:
Step 1: Dry Roasting the rava/ suji
First heat the pan, add 1 tsp oil in it and roast rava/semolina till it becomes golden brown. Then keep it aside.
Step 2: Preparing the Tempering
Take a pan, heat it well, add 1 tablespoon oil in it and after it gets heated for some time, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
Step 3: Cooking the Vegetables
Then add in the same vegetables like onion, currant, green chillies, green peas, one fine chopped tomato and sauté them till golden brown.
Step 4: Adding Water and Semolina
When the vegetables become golden brown then add moong dal in it and add 3 cups of water and cook till it boils, then add rava/semolina in it.
Step 5: Cooking the Upma
Add salt to it as per taste and then cook it well till it becomes fluffy.
Step 6: Garnishing and Serving
Then take it out in a plate and garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and you can also add salty farsan and lemon juice to it.
Additional tips:
- Veggies: You can add veggies as per your choice like capsicum, tomatoes or any other vegetable of your choice. Upma is more healthy with more vegetables.
- Nuts:You can also add nuts as per your choice in the upma, like peanuts and kagu, this is a healthy choice.
- Spices:You can add green chillies as per your taste. If you like eating spices then you can add more green chillies. If you don't like it then you can reduce it.
